The Village of Chama is the head of Cahama Municipality, located between Xangongo Municipality and Huila Province to the North. Set along Nacional Road 105 and the left bank Caculevar River, Cahama is one major junction in the northern Cunene, standing out as a potential logistic center and administrative center.
Like in Namacunde the objectives for the land Use Plan of Cahama were the control of illegal construction, the planning out urban growth, the creation of circulation alternatives to redraw regional traffic from the village center, and the protection of the environmental issues within the Urban Perimeter, in this case associated with the river Caculuvar.
The objectives set for the Plan included:
-- Protection of the Caculevar river course;
-- Create an alternative corridor for the National Road 105 apart from existing urban
-- occupation;
-- Define the requalification guide lines for the center;
-- Definition of Housing Reserves to implement the National and Provincial Social Housing
-- Programs;
-- Create Logistic cluster along National Road 105;
-- Establish the guide lines for basic infrastructure rehabilitation and extension;
-- Define strategies and principles for the urban regeneration of spontaneous settlements
-- (Slums).
