Namacunde is the main village in the Namacunde Municipality, located 15 Km South of Ondjiva. As Ondjiva, is under the influence of the Cuvelai River Basin, fitting in a Chana-Mufito system and its hydrological cycle.
Located on National Road 120, Namacunde has considerable growth potential associated with the connection to Namibia and Huila, which is strengthened by its administrative role.
The Plan's main objectives was the planning of urban Growth, the improvement of the existing urban centre, as well as responding to the industrial and logistic demand associated with regional circulation in the National Road 120.
The objectives set for the Plan included:
-- Create an alternative corridor for the National Road 120 apart from existing urban
-- occupation;
-- Define the requalification guide lines for the center;
-- Definition of Housing Reserves to implement the National and Provincial Social Housing
-- Programs;
-- Create Logistic cluster along National Road 120.
-- Establish the guide lines for basic infrastructure rehabilitation and extension;
-- Define strategies and principles for the urban regeneration of spontaneous settlements
-- (Slums).
